Ask Kassie

March 2003

Tonya: The Emmy nominations were a disappointment to a lot of daytime fans. Many felt that you would get a Lead Actress Nominations for your work last year. There was so much buzz in the mags that you would get a nomination. Did all the buzz make the lack of a nomination harder to take?

Kassie: I was disappointed...but I'm over it now. My fans and family were very sweet and supportive and so were my co -workers. I know I did the best I could do and I know alot of people saw my work during live week. But there are tremendous actresses in Daytime and I'M REALLY proud to be in the running...I just didn't make the cut and that's just fine with me.

Tonya: With the new writers, EP, and Brain Frons in charge at ABC, the writing for Blair has gotten so much better. Do you feel Blair is finally getting back to the character she was meant to be?

Kassie: I feel the entire show is getting better all the time. It's must see TV.

Tonya: The character's storylines are determined by the writers and the Executive Producers. OLTL has gone through many regimes since you first began. With every new EP and writer comes change. How much control does an actor have over the storyline of their character?

Kassie: I can only speak for myself...The actor is usually along for the ride...sometimes it's the desert and sometime it's the mountains. I've never refused to play something....if I did do you think I would have been preggers 4 times and always running around in my undies. Really.

Tonya: Recently in SOD you stated that you felt they were moving Blair away from Todd, even if Roger returns. That you wanted T&B, but only if they came up with a new story. Do you feel there is still story for T&B to explore?

Kassie: With those 2 characters there is always a story to tell. I just think we've told the same story over and over again. I loved working with Roger and I wish him well.

Tonya: Are you ready for Blair to move on from Todd?

Kassie: I'm ready for good story ... how about you?

Tonya: T&B fans are passionate, vocal, and huge in numbers. Do you think Blair fans are ready to accept Blair with someone other than Todd?

Kassie: I think if Todd is not on the OLTL canvas then we really don't have a Todd and Blair now do we...we have beautiful and not so beautiful memories. But if some good looking man walks in and sweeps her off her feet I think we would all buy it. Todd or no Todd.

Tonya: So much is written about the relationship between you and Roger Howarth. Will you set the record straight once and for all about your working relationship with Roger Howarth?

Kassie: Roger is a very hard working actor that cares a great deal about his work. He is very private and I respect that. Are we best friends...NO. Does it really matter as long as you like what you see. We work great together and I don't know what more I can say about the subject. We get along fine and it works.

Tonya: Todd told Mitch that he was and would always be the "love of Blair's life." Is that true?

Kassie: What do you think?

Tonya: Is Blair the love of Todd's life?

Kassie: I don't know, I can't speak for Todd.

Tonya: Many fans are very happy with Blair and OLTL. They feel the soap is better than it has been in years, and that all the stories are good. They like the direction Blair is moving in and are excited about her future. Do you feel Blair and OLTL have become a better soap with the recent changes?

Kassie: I think with each change of regime the shows get better and then they hit a plateau. I've always been a big fan of Michael and Josh. And Frank V. is very hard working and really cares about OLTL.

Tonya: Many fans aren't happy with OLTL. They are mad that we are having Star wars again and that Blair was keeping Todd from his children. Can you explain Blair's motives for keeping Starr and Jack from Todd?

Kassie: Her children are all she has. And Todd always uses the kids to hurt her. Or worse he kidnaps them.

Tonya: Blair knows Todd is innocent and determined to prove Mitch murdered Sam, not her or Todd. Mitch Lawrence is such an evil man. Is Blair a match for Mitch?

Kassie: You bet. NOW he is a man that would really hurt her children.

Tonya: Blair has been having a lot of scenes with Troy. Are they moving Blair in that direction?

Kassie: I can't tell what they want with that relationship. Ty and I enjoy our scenes and I think there are some possibilities.

Tonya: Soon Aunt Dorian will be back in Llanview along with Blair's cousin, Cassie. The Cramers are one of the best TV familles in daytime. How excited are you to have Robin and Laura back at OLTL?

Kassie: Can't wait till you see us all back in action.

Tonya: Is there any talk of Gina T. returning as Kelly?

Kassie: Wouldn't that be the bee's knees...

Tonya: The SOD Awards air on April 5 and you were nominated as Lead Actress? Do you plan to attend?

Kassie: I'm going and I believe I'm presenting.

Tonya: How honored did you feel to receive the nomination?

Kassie: It's always nice to be acknowledged.

Tonya: How is the new CD going?

Kassie: It's in progress. Who all wants it?

Tonya: Your birthday is March 21. How do you plan to spend the day?

Kassie: Working and answering these questions.

Tonya: Your fans .... Recently you have been posting on your message board with your fans. If you could send a message to your fans ... what would you say?

Kassie: Thanks, you all are really something else and words don't express how much you mean to me.
